About Me

My photo
I love writing. If you want to know anything else just ask me or else read up! I have two blogs ("A Pen Itching To Bleed Onto Paper" and "The Rebirth of J"). One of my blogs (A Pen...) is updated more frequently than the other. "The Rebirth” is more of a story I am writing with my life whereas "A Pen" would be my random thoughts past, present, and future in this unfolding journey I call life. If this is your first time reading my blog, please visit Post #2 for the month of April 2008 in my "A Pen" blog archives... Thanks!

Oh to be in Chico...

Let me just point out that if it was up to me I wouldn’t live where I do right now. My heart desires not to be in woodland but a few hours north of here. If I did what my heart wanted me to do I would live in Chico, CA. The place is my heart. I fell in love with it after living there 6 years or so. It’s the beauty, the energy, the small town without the small town feel, the kick back feeling, the great food, the culture, the laid back people, the night life and the amazing scenery. It’s the great friends, the sunsets, the independence, the memories and the way the town makes me feel.
My heart leads me there but the human heart can be deceiving. So the Cons are as follows: hard to find jobs in butte county, no security, friends would probably continue to live their own lives, wouldn’t see them much, family further away, and being far away from church. So because of all those reasons I can visit but I can’t live there even though my heart longs to be there and live there. The heart can be deceiving.

Here are some pics of my beloved City... enjoy!

Summer!

First off I must admit that summer is my least favorite of all seasons due to the excess of heat. As a big guy, I detest hot, sticky weather that makes me melt, lol. Nonetheless I do enjoy certain aspects of the season. I like the fact that you are able to wear shorts and at least get some ventilation going. I love the big family trips even if they are just to a nearby lake. I like 4th of july and being with the family on that day, packing into an already crowded park to see a few fireworks go off.
I really enjoy trips with the homies, like going to the lake yesterday and considering the fact that all of us are guys and nobody bothered to bring sun block, we all burnt to a crisp. Lol
I have mixed feelings about the summer so catch me on a day that is not so hot and I will speak glory about the long summer days in Northern California!

Oh oh California in the summer + summer mix

Hello Everybody! Well it’s just another one of those sunny California Mornings. It’s sunny but still kind of cool due to the light breeze.
This morning I drove to work playing “”Players Holiday” by T.W.D.Y. I know it might sound like some sort of a wanna be pimp/player gangster song but its not. It’s actually a nice peaceful rap song with a smooth beat that made it onto my summer mix. By the way my summer mix is coming along great! Its mostly my taste in music so it’s gonna have some hip-hop on there, some Jack’s mannequin, definitely some red hot chili peppers, some late great 2pac shakur, and one country song even made the list, can you believe it? Most of the songs say something about the summer or California but some of them just have what I consider a “summer feel” to them. I’ll post up the final track list when I finish it all up.

Possibly Road Trippin'...!

Recently I was talking to my sis about possibly going on another road trip soon. During the summer of 2006 my sister, her friend and I decided we wanted to take a road trip. We ended up going down the CA coast Along Highway 1. It was amazing!

Well since gas prices were high and all we hadn’t planned another one. Yesterday we began talking about possibly taking another trip soon. If we decide to do it, it should be awesome. We were thinking about possibly doing the CA coast again simply because all of the cliffs, beaches, lighthouses and landmarks are astonishingly beautiful. Any suggestions though?

Winter!

God, It’s such a beautiful day out! Nice and cool 68*. A nice wind blowing as well. The tree leaves are beginning to change colors and so everything has a reddish gold appearance. I love it. I wish I was taking a walk outside instead of just watching it from in here. It makes me want to take a drive out in the country, out in the orchards. Maybe go mud running! Lol I haven’t done that in a bit! Well anyway, if you haven’t marveled at God’s wonders today I HIGHLY advise you to do so. It’s a beautiful world outside of our little cubicles and desks!

97* in woodland

So I had to go out and do some manual labor right now, lol. I had to help one of the elderly ladies at work move some containers of paint. Anything to get out of this office! So it's 97* in woodland right now! Hella hot! Could be worse though, i could be in chico where right now it is about 104*. Its even hotter than vegas at 103* but not much. Still i wish I was in Chico, swimming at monkey rock or crusing down the Esplanade! oh how I miss thee Chico, Cali!

The best one would be monterey at a whopping 688. Must be nice to be so damn perfect, huh? lol j.p I'm bored folks! holla at me!

Fair Season

So The Fairs are here! The yolo county fair and the California State Fair start on the same week. I don't like the Yolo co. fair. it reminds me too much of the fair back in my old county. And that of course brings back bad memories. Fairs in my area are fighting grounds for gang members who have nothing else to do.

WEll, its pretty peaceful around here. Its free admission too. It still sucks though so I don't really want to go. I don't really know many people in woodland anyway and that is boring.

Now the state fair, that's good stuff! It's a huge fair with lots to do. I love to go out there with a group of friends and just have a blast. Plus there are usually good shows at that fair that are free. I heard air supply and journey are gonna be there, lol. Ohp, going to it!

Oohh...almost forgot, my vacation! lol.

So I had another little mini vacation this weekend. Just two days. I went up to Monterey with the sisters and the parents this weekend. It’s interesting, half of Monterey seems to be extremely sunny and the other half is overcast, all at the same time. Asilomar is on the cloudy side so you know I love it! Gray skies over the loud crashes of the waves make for a great thinking/relaxation spot. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do much of it there. I was with the fam so if I go off to take time for myself they would have thought something was wrong.

My best friend showed up and all but I don't know, things seem to be different between us. To be truthful they've always been like that. She seems to be the best friend ever when we talk on the phone and when we hang out in person, she’s acts distant. I don't know, I didn't really let it bother me thought cause I know that is what she is like.

Well anyways, we went to cannery row and Fisherman's wharf. The parents loved it because they had never been out there before. It's nice to see the parents happy. We stayed at a best western and guess what, I HAD TO STAY IN A ROOM WITH THE PARENTS! lol. At one point I left to the girls’ room to watch a movie (by the way, it was training day, which I hadn't watched in years!) And we kept on joking about how the parents needed some "grown up" time. lol.

The next day we went back to the wharf and had clam chowder in bread bowls, which was phenomenal! We toured the wharf for a little while and ended up going to Santa Cruz as well, which the parents had never been to either. Good times with the fam though. I had fun although I didn't get any "me" time to sit and think.

Waiting for Winter

I can't wait until winter. Don't get me wrong, summertime in Cali is off the hinges but there is something about wintertime that just gets me. I love the opaque grays and dark blues that fill the skies. The leafless trees add plainness to the atmosphere. Wintertime is also quieter than the summer. Perfect time to go outdoors, kick over some leaf piles, splash in some puddles and just think. I love wearing hooded sweatshirts with beanies, more so back in the day, but I think I'll do it again this winter. Hot coffee during cold times seems to warm your soul as you sit and read a book in complete and utter comfort. Sleeping in wrapped up in a few warm blankets while the temperature outside is freezing gives you a safe feeling. Sitting inside in sweats, turning off the TV and just watching the rainfall makes me think of God and the beauty of the works of His hands. There is nothing like it.

Crappy Air

Cali looks all bad!The air is all smokey. Extremely bad quality! On top of that is is really hot outside, it sucks. You can tell it is sunny, but it looks like a rainy day. A hot Rainy day with no rain and no cool breeze = bad day!

Mobbin' down main!

SO I got my car back! it felt good to "dip my ride." lol.

I put on some dead poetic and let it blast,
while I burnt some pretty penny on gas,
finger on the trigger just in case I gotta blast,
going back to work because I gotta get my cash, lol.

okay that's enough gangsta rap. Yeah, so hopefully it is doing well. Might try to take her for a test drive this weekend. I have to check my oil too. remind me, folks! Well, at 5:30 i'm gonna be crusing to some creedence! lol That sounds so old...oh well! great day folks!

California in the Summer

"Oh oh California in the summer, oh oh and my hair is growing long, Heck yea we can live like this!" - Jack's Mannequin, Holiday from Real.

This morning I woke up...late as always, lol. I got dressed and when i walked outside it was nasty sunny! Then I got in the car half asleep, started driving and little did I realize that the radio was set to 101.1, the oldies station. They decided to play Show and tell by Al Wilson, One of those super smooth late 60's to early seventies jams and at that point, I was groovin'! I started bobbing my head and actually enjoying the sunlight. As I drove along I thought, "God, I love California." It really is such a gorgeous state. Sure it gets Hotter than hell out here in the summertime, but once you get used to that it's fine, lol.

When I was a kid and I used to cruise a lot with the homies, we always used to play the classic summer rap songs like, "California Love" (of course, cause 2Pac was the man), "Summer Madness" by Cool N the gang, "I love cali in the summer time" by young Roscoe, and even "Summertime" by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince." We would cruise all day until the sun set and then cruise some more. Those were awesome times.

California is heavenly during the summer time. Its a perfect time to take a cruise and if you have the time, even take a road trip. Explore this great land and realize all that Cali has to offer. I love this land, it is my heart! Now after writing all this I can only hope that being locked in the office for the next few hours won't ruin my perfect Northern California day, lol.
