About Me

My photo
I love writing. If you want to know anything else just ask me or else read up! I have two blogs ("A Pen Itching To Bleed Onto Paper" and "The Rebirth of J"). One of my blogs (A Pen...) is updated more frequently than the other. "The Rebirth” is more of a story I am writing with my life whereas "A Pen" would be my random thoughts past, present, and future in this unfolding journey I call life. If this is your first time reading my blog, please visit Post #2 for the month of April 2008 in my "A Pen" blog archives... Thanks!

Tell me what you think of my first vlog!!

Thursday, April 21, 2011

3 Years!!

On April 21, 2008 I began blogging with blogger. Prior to this I blogged on the outdated, ancient social networking site called Myspace in which my most popular blog was a childish rant blasting a once close female friend of mine for being a psycho chick (which I still maintain that she was).

One day i realized that I couldn't blog there anymore because too many people were judging me harshly about the stuff I was writing (I was a youth pastor under heavy watch at the time). I decided to make a private blog and only invite my closest friends onto it. In addition I ended up acquiring a few good blog friends along the way that have stuck with my rants through the years and for them I am forever grateful.

I named the blog “A Pen itching to bleed onto paper” after a line in one of my poems. I used to write a lot of poetry but lately I haven’t written much of it. Nonetheless, my blog title seems to attract a lot of people and I like the ring of it so it’s a keeper. Well anyway, for me this is quite a milestone so to anybody out there reading this, thank you! May this blog continue on for two more years until I hit the five year mark or until blogger goes out of business and the next wave of technology comes replacing the site.

Cheers,

Juan

Post #500: The Greatest Blog Followers in the World!

I Would like to welcome everybody who has been reading this blog for the past 2 years and those that have been reading for the past two days. Whoever you are, this post is for you.
Ladies and gentleman, for your reading pleasure I give you… (wait for it…)

Yes indeed! It has taken me 2 ½ years now to arrive at this milestone and I am glad to be here. Perhaps at the beginning of next year I will do a “best of” series but I guess I will have to see if it will work. Anyway, I thought long about what I would choose to honor in my 500th post. As you all (may or may not) know, I usually choose a topic and then honor it with my milestone posts.
Ex.
100th - My reason for writing.
200th – Barack Obama Becoming the 44th President of the United States
300th – The Bands that made me love rock music.
400th – The San Franciso 49ers – My favorite Football team!

With that I wanted to make this 500th post as special if not more. I racked my brain as to what I could talk about and then it hit me… there’s nothing better to dedicate my page to than to my most faithful readers/ commenters! I’m talking about the people that started commenting one day and never stopped, regardless of how redundant my posts got, how childish my behavior was or how scattered my posts became. They are the reason that I am still blogging and so with my 500th post I not only want to honor these 4 women, but also recommend their blogs! So without further adieu I give you My top four blog followers! (BTW, Their Blog titles will include a link straight to their page, PLEASE check them out and let them know that I sent you!

- I must admit, I don’t check out your blog as much as I used to and I apologize for that. Ever since it changed from a life blog to a style blog, I find it a bit much for my life. I am a man with absolutely no sense of style so your blog is too advanced for me! :( either way I do thank you for all your comments and ladies, please do check out cici’s blog. She has a great sense of style, shes intelligent and quirky and a good friend! Thank You Cici

Post Number 400: 49 time!

In 2002, Head Coach Steve Mariucci, Quarterback Jeff Garcia and Wide Reciever Terell Owens led the San Francisco 49ers to the post season for the last time to date. After that season Mariucci was fired as was Garcia, TO was traded. The forty niners then began a seasonal losing streak that lasted for 7 straight seasons. That is until this man entered the field!

Meet Mike Singletary The poster child for the 2009 season 49ers. The man that is credited with saying such inspirational quotes as “Hit them in the mouth” and “don’t tell me, show me.” A former Hall of Fame Linebacker himself, Singletary was just what the 49ers needed to bring them out of the hole that lasted 7 seasons.

This year the Bay Bombers finished at 8-8. Coach Singletary called it neutral but honestly we saw a change this year that gave niner fans hope for more. Singletary’s goal was for the playoffs which was a goal that we unfortunately missed. We did however emerge from out of the funk we were in and we did so victoriously.
This years team was full of natural talent that led us all to believe that this was our year. And to be quite frank, this really was our year, we just need to open our eyes and see it. This year was our first winning season in seven seasons and that is a milestone. We didn’t get playoff games, superbowl rings or a post season of any kind but we did receive hope for the future and that is something we didn’t have in the past.

2009 49ers top players are as follows:
#4 Punter Andy Lee. This man is considered the best punter in the NFC. In fact he is this years NFC pro bowl special teams kicker. Couldn’t have done it without Andy booting them into the boons!

#11 QB Alex Smith. What can I say about Smith. I have mixed emotions about this man. I think he is overrated as a QB. Don’t get me wrong, the man was a major part of the 49er season but I think if we replaced him with a veteran throwing arm we can seriously do some damage in the league. He did however record 310 yards against Seattle which was decent.

Those were the men, now for the machines!
#85 Tight end Vernon Davis. What can I say about this man? He is one of the two men that led the offense this year. But aside from leading the offense, 1st year pro bowler VD led the league in TD’s by a tight end this season (13). Among tight ends he is 5th in the NFL with 72 receptions and 4th with 876 receiving yards. Not only is he one of the best on the team, but he is one of the best in the league.

#52 Linebacker Patrick Willis. P-Dub is The best linebacker in pro football! There wasn’t a D play by the niners where you didn’t see Willis. That is why I had to have a pic of him doing what he does best! You still don’t believe me? The man led the league this year with 152 tackles, 4 sacks and three interceptions! If that doesn’t say Best Defensive player in the league then watch him do his thing in the pro bowl for the third time! And if you are still not convinced then watch him in action next year!

#21 Gore Frank Gore. Gore is a threat while receiving the ball but simply the best at rushing. The man is an unstoppable force when running up the gut. This is his 4th season in a row (out of 5) in which he rushes 1000+ yards. This season alone he had 1120 rushing yards, a career high, even though he sat out three games with a sprained ankle and had the spread offense dilemma working against him. But the true injustice comes when this train or a running back doesn’t make the pro-bowl! I think he was robbed of this honor and here on my blog (though it means nothing, lol) I name Frank Gore as one of the best pro-bowl worthy running backs in the league! I salute you Gore!

These are the men that brought passion, energy, drive, and heroism to the field in this 2009 season making the 49ers a praise worthy team once again! I am a niner fan and I will be for my entire life. That is why I dedicated my 400th Blog to the best team in the NFL: The San Francisco 49ers!

The Bands That Brought me to Rock (Post #300)

Since this is my 300Th post I figured what better to write this post about than the music that I love, Rock!

So I'll take you all through a small journey. 1999 I was completely engulfed by rap Music especially West Coast rap and specifically that of 2PAC "Makaveli" Shakur. I didn't listen to rock because
1. I didn't like it
2. My friends only listened to rap and referred to rock music as "White boy $#!T."

But in 1999 I heard a song that changed the way that I looked at rock when I first heard Rage Against The Machine.

They were this hybrid child of rap and rock. Zach De La Rocha's flows over Tom Morello's extraordinary guitar skills was a match made in heaven.

Later that year I fell in love with a song by another group that seemed to be a fusion of funk, punk rock, and rap. That band was Red Hot Chili peppers.

The first time i heard "Californication" I immediately loved the smooth sound of the opening guitar riff. I still remember going on a camping trip that year with my buddies (not the gang members but my school friends), and belching out a tone deaf rendition of californication at the top of our lungs which woke everybody at the camping sight up that night. I kept RHCP in the closet since my friends didnt listen to rock but I did pick up their album.

In the year 2000 I heard a song called Lithium by an early 90's Aberdeen, WA based alternative punk rock group that pioneered a sound called "Grunge." The band was the legendary Nirvana.
Nirvana hit me like lightning. I had heard "Smells Like teen spirit" before but never really got into it. Lithium and all Nirvana Lyrics really summed up my depressed lifestyle at the time and So Nirvana became (and continues to be) one of my favorite rock bands of all time.

In 2002 I first heard the band Emery which without a doubt is my favorite rock band.

Emery really got me into the scene with their emo/screamo style of music. This is currently the type of rock that I am really into.

In 2003 my friend began introducing me to the world of hard rock. Although I didn't like some of it, the frustration that went into a lot of these lyrics really helped me to cope with relationship issues at that time. Three Days Grace was one of the best at expressing this anger towards the ex- girlfriend.

i bought their CD and lost it after a while but returned to it last year along with a return to harder rock.

Post #300 is dedicated to this amazing musical root genre called rock. Gotta love it!

200th Post!

Today, right now, you are reading a post that will be remembered throughout history... okay not really but I will. lol. This here is my 200th post!

I still remember my 100th post about "a tree making noise when it falls down" and how blogging makes sense to me because I put my thoughts out there even if not many read them.

I still remember my 1st post talking about the fact that writing about stuff in my life helps me "breath" peacefully.

So what can I write about in my 200th blog? I figure this: a good percentage of my blogs have been about Jack's mannequin, lol. But then a larger part have been about or briefly talked about a man that I look up to and that inspires me in a very profound way. This man became the 44th President Elect of the United States and should be sworn in as president come January 2009. During this season of my life he made me believe in this country again and also moved me to do something in order to be the change, which drew me to working on the campaign. For this reason, this blog is dedicated to a night that changed the world and brought us such joy November 4, 2008 - Election Day! Ladies and Gentleman...

100th post

Why do I write?

There have been times when I have wanted to stop using this website. I figure, who's listening anyways?? Nobody reads this! There is no point to a blog that is unread! If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a noise?

The answer is yes!

The truth is that it helps me as the tree to make the noise even though not many people are around to hear it.

Let me take the time to thank the faithful few that have made it a point to read and comment my blogs. You all listen to me when I am pouring out my heart and when I am sprinkling sweet nothings. Either way, you read my thoughts and for that i thank you. You have given my mind peace knowing that at least a few people are reading and that is all that counts.

Back to my point! i write for me! I discovered that it helps me to simply write about things. Writing is a venting process for me. There are many thoughts that I have that never reach the outside and through this blog I can express the frustrations and joys of this dreary existence that I call life, lol.

Okay, so that was a bit emo. I write to write, that's it. It is therapeutic for me. Sure I probably still need a shrink but until then I will continue to write. Thanks for reading.
