About Me

My photo
I love writing. If you want to know anything else just ask me or else read up! I have two blogs ("A Pen Itching To Bleed Onto Paper" and "The Rebirth of J"). One of my blogs (A Pen...) is updated more frequently than the other. "The Rebirth” is more of a story I am writing with my life whereas "A Pen" would be my random thoughts past, present, and future in this unfolding journey I call life. If this is your first time reading my blog, please visit Post #2 for the month of April 2008 in my "A Pen" blog archives... Thanks!

The 2010 49ers...

Can I vent my frustrations for a while? I always have! It seems that this blog is just me venting and nobody reading so I will in fact be expressing my frustration towards the SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS!!!!!!
Where do I begin? At the end of last year we were 8-8. We were all looking forward to this season… what was supposed to be the first winning season for the 49ers in a really long time! We had everything in place. A QB and an O. Coordinator that were about to spend their second season together, a motivational head coach that made them all believe in the 9ers again, 2 rookie offensive lineman, a rookie safety that looked extremely promising (Taylor Mays), an undefeated preseason, and of course some of the best players in the NFL heading up our team on O and D. And so we head out there against this all new Seahawks team and guess what, we get stomped!
And then 2nd game around guess what, we get stomped! And so on for 5 games IN A ROW! Then we won 3 out of four and ended up at the front lines before a young fresh buccaneers team but I will come back to that. The trajectory for our team has been painful. We’re talking about 5 losses in a row, 2 more that add insult to injury. We are the bottom of the barrel in NFC west, Our OC was fired for having a repetitive playbook, Players not playing to their fullest potential, a quarterback that looked like a high school player compared to the rest of the QB’s in the league and a playbook that doesn’t know how to experiment. And I hate to say it because I have been on the singletary team since day one, but our head coach isn’t doing the best job at motivating our crew. He tries to play too conservatively, taking a team that could be at the top and confining them to mediocrity. I’m not too sure who to blame anymore.
So Sunday we fell to this TB buccs team that really showed us how bad we are playing this season by shutting us out at home. They reflected our lack of preparation, our inconsistency, our lackadaisical performance, and our poor coaching. Although we still have playoff hopes, we have a difficult few weeks ahead, especially facing off against green bay in a few weeks.
With all that said, I will NEVER give up on my team! Niner Nation for Life!!!!

Superbowl!

This line was taken from My January 11th blog.

9. My NFL Superbowl Prediction: Colts Vs. Saints. Outcome: 38-35 saints up in overtime!

So the Superbowl is gone now! And as you can see my prediction was correct, except of course for the score. I predicted the teams that would make the superbowl and the winner… yup, I’m awesome like that! Well anyway, I’m kind of sad that football is over now. It’s such a cool sport; best sport ever! Oh well, it’s on to NCAA basketball now! Syracuse Orange are taking it all this year, folks!

Post Number 400: 49 time!

In 2002, Head Coach Steve Mariucci, Quarterback Jeff Garcia and Wide Reciever Terell Owens led the San Francisco 49ers to the post season for the last time to date. After that season Mariucci was fired as was Garcia, TO was traded. The forty niners then began a seasonal losing streak that lasted for 7 straight seasons. That is until this man entered the field!

Meet Mike Singletary The poster child for the 2009 season 49ers. The man that is credited with saying such inspirational quotes as “Hit them in the mouth” and “don’t tell me, show me.” A former Hall of Fame Linebacker himself, Singletary was just what the 49ers needed to bring them out of the hole that lasted 7 seasons.

This year the Bay Bombers finished at 8-8. Coach Singletary called it neutral but honestly we saw a change this year that gave niner fans hope for more. Singletary’s goal was for the playoffs which was a goal that we unfortunately missed. We did however emerge from out of the funk we were in and we did so victoriously.
This years team was full of natural talent that led us all to believe that this was our year. And to be quite frank, this really was our year, we just need to open our eyes and see it. This year was our first winning season in seven seasons and that is a milestone. We didn’t get playoff games, superbowl rings or a post season of any kind but we did receive hope for the future and that is something we didn’t have in the past.

2009 49ers top players are as follows:
#4 Punter Andy Lee. This man is considered the best punter in the NFC. In fact he is this years NFC pro bowl special teams kicker. Couldn’t have done it without Andy booting them into the boons!

#11 QB Alex Smith. What can I say about Smith. I have mixed emotions about this man. I think he is overrated as a QB. Don’t get me wrong, the man was a major part of the 49er season but I think if we replaced him with a veteran throwing arm we can seriously do some damage in the league. He did however record 310 yards against Seattle which was decent.

Those were the men, now for the machines!
#85 Tight end Vernon Davis. What can I say about this man? He is one of the two men that led the offense this year. But aside from leading the offense, 1st year pro bowler VD led the league in TD’s by a tight end this season (13). Among tight ends he is 5th in the NFL with 72 receptions and 4th with 876 receiving yards. Not only is he one of the best on the team, but he is one of the best in the league.

#52 Linebacker Patrick Willis. P-Dub is The best linebacker in pro football! There wasn’t a D play by the niners where you didn’t see Willis. That is why I had to have a pic of him doing what he does best! You still don’t believe me? The man led the league this year with 152 tackles, 4 sacks and three interceptions! If that doesn’t say Best Defensive player in the league then watch him do his thing in the pro bowl for the third time! And if you are still not convinced then watch him in action next year!

#21 Gore Frank Gore. Gore is a threat while receiving the ball but simply the best at rushing. The man is an unstoppable force when running up the gut. This is his 4th season in a row (out of 5) in which he rushes 1000+ yards. This season alone he had 1120 rushing yards, a career high, even though he sat out three games with a sprained ankle and had the spread offense dilemma working against him. But the true injustice comes when this train or a running back doesn’t make the pro-bowl! I think he was robbed of this honor and here on my blog (though it means nothing, lol) I name Frank Gore as one of the best pro-bowl worthy running backs in the league! I salute you Gore!

These are the men that brought passion, energy, drive, and heroism to the field in this 2009 season making the 49ers a praise worthy team once again! I am a niner fan and I will be for my entire life. That is why I dedicated my 400th Blog to the best team in the NFL: The San Francisco 49ers!

Hunting!

I have shot guns before but never rifles at animals! (well I once accidentally killed a goat with a pellet gun, but that hardly counts as hunting, lol) Last week I went hunting with a .22 for the first time in my life. It was great because it was a spontaneous hunting session that began with a call from a friend at midnight. He invited the three of us that were hanging to go hunting with him. I didn’t hesitate to say yes.
We met up with him at his home out in the country and took his jeep about thirty miles out in the country, to a road surrounded with vineyards. There he handed me the .22 and we began with our hunt. We drove slowly through the night with a red spotlight shining without distracting the prey. As we saw our first jack rabbit we immediately stopped the car and I began to aim. The first shot was terrible, no where close to the animal. The second was the same and that rabbit got away.
We stopped and reloaded the .22 and proceeded with the hunt. After a few moments we spotted another rabbit and stopped to aim. The first shot, right over its head, the second just to the right of him. He had begun to run when I fired the third shot which landed straight in his head. Down went the rabbit and we ran out to see it. Dead as a doornail. My friend Cameron pulled off the tail with one swift hand motion and handed it to me. A souvenir of my first hunting experience.

The rest of the guys shot a rabbit each. We ended up leaving the hunt at about 3:30 am. It was an amazing experience that I know I want to continue. Hopefully soon I will buy my own rifle and we take up hunting as our new pastime.
