It’s a blessing to work for an organization that helps those in need. Year round we are in charge of helping survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, but at Christmas time, we round up gifts to give away to struggling clients. We are in charge of finding families to donate gifts or money, going to the store to get the gifts, sorting them, wrapping them, dividing them up amongst families and distributing them.
Every once in a while you will get an ungrateful person or a person trying to take advantage of the organizations generosity. In the past we have had people pulling up in their Cadillac esclades or mustangs asking for gifts because they are, “in need.” To be honest that part pisses me off but oh to see that one family that thanks you in a genuine way with tears in their eyes, those people make it worth all the trouble.
It’s an honor to serve those going through these difficult situations and if you remember, please say a prayer for all the families surviving another holiday and taking a step forward!
