About Me

I love writing. If you want to know anything else just ask me or else read up! I have two blogs ("A Pen Itching To Bleed Onto Paper" and "The Rebirth of J"). One of my blogs (A Pen...) is updated more frequently than the other. "The Rebirth” is more of a story I am writing with my life whereas "A Pen" would be my random thoughts past, present, and future in this unfolding journey I call life. If this is your first time reading my blog, please visit Post #2 for the month of April 2008 in my "A Pen" blog archives... Thanks!

To Live By His word…

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. – John 10:27

(Throughout this entire thing I am not speaking of an audible voice but the still small voice that speaks to our hearts.)

I think that the hardest thing in the world is to attempt to live a life for God and that is interesting because it is so simple. Here it is in its simplicity. He knows us, he calls us he listens to us, we learn to listen to him, as we listen to him he leads us through the rest of our life and then we get to be with him forever. Did I get the gist of it?

So my question is this, if it really is that simple then why do you have so many Christians that leave and abandon his call and his plan? Could I offer the suggestion that one of two things happens:

1. They never hear God’s voice or…
2. They stop hearing God’s voice.

I just finished reading a testimony about a church that started 10 yrs ago with about a dozen people in a living room. This church now has thousands of people in it and is growing more by the day. But honestly you would have to step into the church to understand why people are coming and staying in this church. You can feel that there is something different there. And there are many other reasons why people come to this church.

The interesting part is that it started with a dozen people but one man that was willing to stop for a second in the middle of his worship/prayer time and pay attention to the voice of God.

Consider this… If we would learn to hear the voice of God and follow it… This whole Christian thing would be a lot easier and much more successful.

Easier said than done. Why haven’t people been doing this? Impatience, disbelief, lack of time, fear, distraction, doubt, sin, pride, my question is this… What is getting in the way of us experiencing the feeling of God’s voice touching our hearts? We need to pray for sensitivity and we need desperation for his voice. And if we do this we need to stay close to the voice and follow it to the end. We need to be in God’s presence in order to hear his voice!

A wise man said, “Lukewarm Christianity doesn’t know the presence of God.” If we aren’t searching, reading, preaching, fasting, praying, worshiping and persevering then we can’t expect the presence of God and therefore we can’t expect to hear the voice of God. We need to hunger and thirst for God if we want to hear him and have him launch us into the direction of our destiny.

Very true. I think another reason why people wouldn't be able to hear His voice is maybe they're listening to their own wants and needs more than God's voice. Or maybe some circumstance or person is dictating how they live their life, instead of them listening to God.

You're right. it is much easier said than done. I think every Christian will feel this way at some point, if not every once in a while.

I think sometimes it's easier not to hear it. Just like it's easier not to believe. *M*
