About Me

My photo
I love writing. If you want to know anything else just ask me or else read up! I have two blogs ("A Pen Itching To Bleed Onto Paper" and "The Rebirth of J"). One of my blogs (A Pen...) is updated more frequently than the other. "The Rebirth” is more of a story I am writing with my life whereas "A Pen" would be my random thoughts past, present, and future in this unfolding journey I call life. If this is your first time reading my blog, please visit Post #2 for the month of April 2008 in my "A Pen" blog archives... Thanks!

Smiling faces...

Ever meet one of those Christians that is always smiling? Lol. Or one of those Christians that is overly spiritual about things. That type of person would be the type that even if somebody was talking down on them, they would smile and act like it doesn’t hurt them even though you can see it in their face. I love them but I don’t understand that?

I’ve heard people say, “well its because God has blessed them” or “When you have Jesus in your life, you could never be sad” and weird responses such as these. Now I don’t know about you but people that are eternally smiling freak me out! I don’t really trust people who are always smiling because it gives me a sense that they are not human. They are almost robotic.

I love people that are real. Yes, Jesus saved us and for that we are forever grateful but this façade of eternal happiness all the time just doesn’t cut it for me. Joy doesn’t necessarily reflect on your countenance. You could love your life and everything about it and still have no expression on your face. True joy is lived and shown through the way that you do what you do, not just by your facial expression or religious verbiage. People should be real. Even Christ didn’t smile all the time. He wasn’t a robot, He was real. We should be real too. We live out our example of Christ in our character and integrity and in the way that we show Christ’s love to others. Nothing wrong with smiling but we don’t have to be overly cheery to the point where it is just fake.

I totally agree with you. However, it is often just a mask to hide their real self from you or themselves. Some have forgotten or never learned how to be real. That takes hard work. But, the "overly Christian" people deep inside have something hurtful and use their faith as a defense against feeling sad, angry etc...all of the things that Jesus felt that we have judged as non-Christian or "bad"

I know that countenance is important, but some of us just don't have that personality. lol Or that face, lol. I love Jonathan Stockstill. So serious looking, but you can see Jesus in Him and that He has a deep relationship with Jesus because of His worship.

But anyway, I agree. Nothing wrong with NOT smiling all the time.
